-
- I've been using an APS M-O drive for about a month now and have
- (almost) no complaints. While not quite as fast as my hard drive, it
- is more than fast enough for working from. It's a nice size, disks
- can now be had for less than $40, and the extra storage is really
- nice. The drive was $1200, but at MacWorld I someone selling M-O
- drives for $999 (although I don't know if that was for one of the
- older, slower drives, or even if that price included a case/power
- supply).
-
- The only problems I have with the APS unit is that 1) it's noisy, and
- 2) was you mount a cartridge, the unit stays on until you reboot.
- APS's driver checks the drive for an insert every couple seconds or so,
- and if the drive is off your Mac stops briefly every couple seconds.
