- I wrote this some time back.

- It IS official. It is listed in the internal dealer brochure that
- Apple sent to its Apple Centers when the StyleWriter was released.
- The document says it has an expected lifetime of at least 3000 pages.
- I know this, as I was working as a techie at that time. An I know
- the inside of the Stylewriter. It is all plastic. Even the gearwheels.
- It is designed for short life.

-
- The DeskWriter is cheaper than a laser printer. I do lots of printout
- using refilled cartridges. And the are refilled by using a $1 syringe,
- and $7 ink. And these $8 is enough for 5-8 refills. Just say no to the
- overpriced refill packages.
-

-
- As a techie my experience is that there is prblems with many
- StyleWriters. I have replaced the printer frame assembly on quite
- a few because two passes of the head did not align, resulting
- in striped output. This is the sort of problems that will come
- when the plastic is worn.
