- In August I bought the older model 5.25 inch Ricoh drive from
- RELAX, for about $1,500. For about the same price as a 128 MB
- drive you get a 300 MB (per side, 600 MB total per cartridge)
- drive. This model isn't as fast as the newer drives, and you
- have to format the cartridges yourself (45 minutes per side, but
- you only have to do it once), but you get more storage on-line,
- and more storage per dollar, than a 3.5 inch drive which would
- cost about the same.
-
- The drive has been working fine for me, and even saved me a
- lot of trouble when my hard drive failed. I just booted from the
- MO and kept going.
-
- The place where I work has been using Maxoptics Tahiti drives
- for at least 4 years and has been happy with them, but they cost
- a lot more.
