- I recently purchased a Quadra 700 and have been experiencing numerous
- problems with launching programs. I suspect my RAM upgrade is
- "marginal" and is the cause of my problems, but I'd like to know if
- I'm on the right track there.
-
- I'm running System 7.0.1, Tuned up. I've got many applications that
- will hang the machine when launched. When programs do launch, I'll get
- the system hung quite frequently in the process of doing my work. When
- I disable the caches, most - not all - of these launching problems go
- away (SimCity 1.3c still fails). The machine is noticeably faster with
- the caches turned on, so I'd like to run with them if I can.
-
- Would marginally speedy SIMMS cause problems like this or would the
- machine just not work properly at all? The memory was scavanged from
- another machine and I'm not sure how fast the SIMMS are, but the
- machine seems to work fine as long as caches are off - for the most
- part.
-
- The same programs on a similarly equipped 950 work just fine - even
- with the caches enabled, so I beleive I have cache compatible
- applications.
-
- Any ideas?
