  11. It sounds like your hard drive has a case of stiction, where the lubricant for
  12. the drive has seized up after periods of inactivity. I have had this happen to
  13. two drives and I got them replaced through Apple's silent recall program, since
  14. both were from Apple. The best thing to do might be to buy another drive, but
  15. repair might also be worth trying, if you can get it done for a good price.
