- It sounds like your hard drive has a case of stiction, where the lubricant for
- the drive has seized up after periods of inactivity. I have had this happen to
- two drives and I got them replaced through Apple's silent recall program, since
- both were from Apple. The best thing to do might be to buy another drive, but
- repair might also be worth trying, if you can get it done for a good price.
