  11. Hard disk drivers are just a piece of software like any other software. 
  12. It is VERY possible and very likely in your case that the DRIVER that was
  13. installed when you formatted was NOT System 7 compatible.  My suggestion
  14. is to re-format with a KNOWN System 7 COMPATIBLE formatter and it should
  15. work.  I have seen this before (several times, actually).  Just like your
  16. word processor or your drawing program, your hard disk driver needs to be
  17. System 7 compatible.
