  13. I am in the process of investigating software which can link address
  14. information in a database with physical location on a map.  I would like
  15. to use it to, given a list of addresses, show the locations of these
  16. addresses on a map, and for each address, be able to determine the closest
  17. location to it amongst a group of locations distributed throuout the map.
  18. (For instance, given an address I would like to find the closest
  19. restaurant to this address among a group of restaurants.)
  20.  
  21. I read the recent Byte article about mapping software (January 1992), and
  22. noticed GeoQuery 3.0.  Anyone used it?  What types of things have you used
  23. it for?  Is it fully programmable, along the lines of a high-level language
  24. database (e.g. FoxBase, Omnis 7).

  26. Any system that I would put into use would have to have data available on
  27. Vancouver, B.C., Canada, the surrounding metropolitan area and it would
  28. be good to have data for the whole of southern B.C. and Vancouver Island
  29. as well.  Is there ANY mapping program for the Mac (or even, yuck, DOS)
  30. that can be configured with detailed data from these areas?
