- The easiest and best way for a non-programmer to understand and learn to
- write Apple Events is with a program called UserLand's Frontier. They
- have created a wonderful scripting environment that can control all the
- programs on your mac that understand apple events. You can see the
- way they are sent and received, and what information is needed when you
- want to send them. They also have high level commands (glue) that call
- the actual AE for a number of AE aware programs including Excel, PageMaker,
- Microphone, FileMaker, Navigator, Hypercard, On Location, Stuffit Deluxe,
- Claris Resolve, Claris MacProject, etc, etc.
-
- On compuserve they have a very active area of people who do scripting
- and can give you a hand. Everything the program does is with AppleEvents,
- and none of the code is hidden. If you are curious about how anyone's
- glue and scripts work just take a peek.
