- For viewing JPEG files on an 8-bit system I would strongly recommend
- using JPEGView. It does a very good job of quantization for 8-bit
- systems. JPEGView is also cheaper (postcardware vs. shareware) and
- uses significantly less memory. There are differences in the user
- interface which may influence your decession. As I recall, for images
- larger than the screen, GIFConverter puts your image in a scroll
- window while JPEGView scales it to fit on the screen. I have not
- tried GIFConverter recently, so it may have some of these features,
- but some of the "nice" features of JPEGView include: slide show mode,
- easy to set file type on downloaded images, nice mac interface (good
- help system and user preferences), able to use full screen, etc.
