- Speaking of Zterm, I use it and think it is an excellent program.
- However, I recently upgraded (?) to System 7.0.1. Now I notice
- that whenever I use Zterm and the Monitors control panel is set
- to 256 colors, there is a significant delay in clearing the screen.
- I use a 2400 baud modem to connect to my univeristy mainframes.
-
- For example, when I finish leaving this message, and go on to read
- the next article, trn, our newsreader, will clear the screen. However,
- I may receive almost enough data to fill half the screen before the
- screen clearing routine is complete. Bing! Half a screenfull
- pops up instantly, then the rest fills in at normal 2400 bps rate.
-
- This didn't happen at all with System 6.0.8, and isn't as bad with
- the Montiors set to 16 colors. Is System 7 slow, is Zterm to blame,
- or should I simply not be running System 7 on a Mac II with the
- 8-bit Toby video card?
