- I did my dissertation using Word, as did my wife. I didn't have
- any significant trouble, and my dissertation included zillions
- of equations and lots and lots of figures (mostly imported from
- Canvas). The other advantage I can see with Word is that,
- despite some advantages that other specialized programs may
- have for certain operations, Word is quite commonly used and
- so you'll have lots of company. The most common problem I've
- seen with large documents is that people don't start out using
- Styles. If you don't already use styles, play with them on
- a small document until you feel comfortable. Then use them
- ALL the time (I do...). This will save you lots of headaches
- later.
