- Hi, there. The center of discussion in both c.s.l and magazines
- seems to concentrate on Thinkpad 700C. But most of people will only
- have the budget for 700. Can the owners of 700 give us some reviews
- about the machine? Espeically on the 9.5 inch mono LCD. Also, I
- have a few questions about the machine:
- 1. How many serial ports does the machine have.
- 2. For those who have upgraded the CPU to SLC2, how does it effect
- the battery life?
- 3. Is there a FPU sucket on the machine? If yes, what types of FPU
- does it accept?
-
- Here is my wish list for the next incarnation of Thinkpads
- 1. i486SL.
- 2. PCMCIA TYPE II slots.
- 3. active matrix(or addressing) mono LCD.
- 4. larger bridge battery.
- 5. external video at least capable of 800x600x256
- 6. mechanism to allow the TRACKPOINT stick to retrack when closing,
- to reduce the thickness.
- 7. drop the MCA architecture in favor of PI&ISA.
- 8. Maybe not next generation, but built-in sound(record&playback)
- capability should be an integral part of PC notebooks. Judging by
- the pupularity of Powerbooks.
-
- Please be welcome to add comments to the wish list. Maybe we can
- forward the wish list to IBM later. Now that InfoWorld has become
- less informative than before. I hope c.s.l will become an important
- source for portable computing which it never was.
-
- Thank you.
