  15. You can read the status lines on the parallel port. This is sufficient to do
  16. (I think) 4 bits of input. I have never tried it for high speed or large 
  17. volume input, but I have had it work successfully for low speed small volume.
  18. (It was actually a theatre lighting controller.)
