- Well, even though I would like to say that our scanner (F-PROT) was the best,
- the fact is that no single scanner is the "best" in every sense. It depends
- on exactly which combination of features you are looking for. Most scanners
- will detect most of the viruses you are ever likely to encounter - that is the
- 100 or so viruses that are spread "in the wild" (out of a total of over
- 2000 different MS-DOS viruses). They may differ with respect to the
- capabilities of the TSR portion, disinfection capability, and other such
- features.
-
- Actually, the best approach for you might be to download 2 or three scanners
- from a site such as oak.oskland.edu (/pub/msdos/trojan-pro). There you will
- find F-PROT (version 2.06a), SCAN (version 99, I think), TBscan and possibly
- a few others.
