- I presently have two IDE HD's connected to my system through a multi
- function card which supports a maximum of 2 HDs. I'm running low on
- disk space, and would like to add another drive. I don't anticipate
- going beyond 4 total HDs in the forseable future, and would prefer
- to continue with IDE drives instead of also investing in a SCSI
- controller and SCSI drives.
-
- 1. In order to add IDE drive #3, could I just buy another generic IDE
- controller (which supports 2 drives max) and add another drive, or
- would I have to disable the IDE controller on my multtifunction card
- and buy one of those 4-drive IDE controllers?
-
- 2. How would I set the drive types for drives #3 and #4 (since my AMI BIOS'
- setup screen seems to only recognize 2 drives.)
-
- 3. In a 4 IDE drive configuration, is one drive the master and up to three
- drives the slaves, or are the drives configured as a pair of master-slave
- pairs?
