- ***** *Two* Parallel Printers from 1 PC SUMMARY *****
-
- I got lots of answers, and they mostly agreed on these points:
-
- =========================================================================
- >
- > I am running a laser printer from my PC's parallel port. Now I'd
- >like to add a parallel dot matrix printer as well.
- >
- > Can I *add* a parallel port to my PC?
-
- Sure, buy one on an expansion card for ~$20, they're reasonably
- easy to install and run.
-
- > Can I use a serial port to run a parallel printer?
-
- I believe so, but it's not worth the trouble. Go for the parallel port
- on an expansion card.
-
- > Can I get a switch thing to direct my output from one port
- > between two printers?
-
- Yes, and they're pretty cheap, too. Automatic ones are more expensive
- than manual ones, but your best bet is still the expansion card.
-
- > Is there any other way I can get this going?
-
- Swop the cables by hand each time you want to change printers. It'll
- be pretty boring and it'll wear out the ports; so go for the expansion
- card instead.
-

-
- Many thanks to everyone who replied - I will place an order
- for an parallel port expansion card forthwith!
