- I have a Leading Edge Model D3, 386-DX 16MHz system. It is built around
- the DAEWOO motherboard. Recently one of the COM ports on my motherboard
- stopped working and since I've been considering installing a game port,
- I thought I'd get a multi I/O card. I don't think the I/O card and the
- MB ports can coexist so I'd like to know how to properly disable the
- ports built into the MB.
-
- The 2s/1p ports are on one LSI chip (in a square, recessed socket, I
- think it's called the PLCC package). I figured I could just set a jumper.
- The manual offers no help on how to do so. And all the MB jumpers in the
- manual are accounted for, so a jumper can't be the answer.
-
- Can I just pull the chip? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

- I had a similar problem when my COM conflicted with a newer card. I just
- pulled the serial controller chip and everything was OK.
