- 1. The Sony CD-ROM comes with its own (proprietary ?) host adapter card,
- which therefore uses up a slot. The driver software configures this
- as a network drive (not as a floppy or hard disk drive). This caused
- a momentary problem when I tried to install one of my programs. The
- program (I forgot which one) claimed that I did not have the network
- version (correct) and thus would not install. I had to disable the
- CD-ROM driver, installed the program, and then energized the driver
- again. Worked fine.

- 2. The Anykey keyboard. Well, yes, the left-side F keys are independent
- from the top row F keys, and thus are independently programmable. But
- I am not sure how useful this reprogrammable feature really is. I use
- many other machines, and this feature just leads to confusion. The
- feel of the Gateway keyboard is very nice (soft, quiet, positive
- feedback). But the layout of some of the keys is awful. The Capslock
- key is where I expect the Ctrl key, and the Ctrl key is where I expect
- the Alt key. Yes, I know that I can reprogram them. But then I have to
- paste little stickers on top of the keys so I can remember what I did.

- Cheers.
