- No, both the 1542A and 1542B are DMA bus-mastering cards. I
- imagine that Adaptec came out with a "B" card because it was cheaper to
- produce (hence, more profits). I've heard that a 1542C is in the works,
- but I haven't heard much about it.

- The cards (1542A vs 1542B) are not 100% identical, though. They're
- the same as far as MSDOS is concerned, but they're not 100% hardware
- compatible. For example, an old version of BSD368 (a PC Unix) would not
- boot from a 1542A, due to some minor difference.
