- Has anyone attempted to install a Mouse Systems hand scanner in the same
- system as the PAS16 Board? I'm running a 386dx system with the PAS16 on
- DMA3 and IRQ7. I installed the scanner on different addresses, I get the
- green scanner light which indicates it's scanning, it writes temp files
- (although not very large ones), and then fails to display the image.
-
- In speaking with the Tech Support people at Mouse Systems, they state that
- the multi-media portion of the sound board which allows installation of
- multiple boards in the same system allows variable addressing of the DMA/IRQs
- which is set in the sound board BIOS, therefore causing a conflict with
- the scanner card.
-
- Has anyone encountered this problem, and discovered a fix for it? I downloaded
- a driver (mscan.sys) from the Mouse Systems BBS, and installed it in the
- config.sys file before the device= line for the sound board. It just locks
- up my system.
-
- Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Physically removing the sound board
- allows the scanner to work, and I have been toying with the idea of making
- a mechanical toggle switch I can use to disconnect the sound board so I don't
- have to physically remove it. Prior to doing that however, it would be nice
- to find out if someone has discovered a software solution.
