-
- I can't tell you from first-hand experience (or "for certain" as
- requested). I *can* tell you from investigation that Gateway is
- using (in their newest systems) the 36 bit simms. Before I ordered
- my ZEOS system in October, I was considering a Gateway and this is
- what I was told when I called Gateway tech support.
-
- I suggest that you call the Gateway order number and get the tech
- support number. From this, you will find several things. First, the
- *real* answer to your questions and Second, just how frustrating it
- is to get through to the Gateway tech support personnel. This is not
- to say that it will be frustrating *every* time. If you are considering
- a purchase from Gateway (or any other vendor), it only takes some spare
- time to get a "feel" for what you have in store after the sale.

-
- These Simms are new to the market and I have yet to find any *deals*.
-
- You might also want to inquire with Gateway if their motherboards will
- allow "double-sided" simms. Some simms are populated with memory
- chips on both sides, to increase the density of the simm. Usually
- this will give you a 16MB simm. I found out, much to my dismay, that
- my ZEOS motherboard will not allow double-sided Simms. The four
- (and only four) memory slots are too close together and I will have
- to wait until the market releases the upcoming "single-sided"
- 16MB simms in order to upgrade my system with more memory.
