  10. Having spent the holidays working two jobs, I will finally be
  11. able to put my tired--though certainly dependable--8086 (no,
  12. that's NOT a typo) out to pasture.

  14. I'm ordering a Gateway 25mhz 486sx, w/ 4mb memory, 170 mb Caviar
  15. hard drive, IDE local bus hard drive controller, SVGA w/ 1 mb and
  16. a Western Digital graphics accelerator chip, 128-key programmable
  17. keyboard, mouse, DOS 5.0, Windows 3.1, Microsoft Works, and a set
  18. of utilities.  I can't afford my monitor, but my Princeton ultrasync
  19. has been behaving itself lately.

  21. Total price, including shipping:  $1206.

  23. I called a lot of different places, but the only places that could
  24. beat that price were outfits I know nothing about, or know too much
  25. about (i.e., Fast Micro).  One of my best friends recently got the
  26. same system (but with the crystalscan 15" monitor, damn him), and
  27. vouches for the quality of the machine.
