Did you ever have your floppy disk recalibrated? If it's out of sync only a bit it's likely to work with most disks you feed it, however, it might cough on disks that were formatted on specific drives (that are a bit out of sync as well, only in the "opposite direction"). I never had any problems with Origin disks, but I did with Microprose ones for exactly this reason.
