- The average hacker/cracker does not believe in Copernicus -- the world does
- not revolve around the sun, it revolves around him/her. They are egocentric,
- immature, and irresponsible ... rarely taking into account the consequences
- of their actions because they live for themselves and live for the moment.
-
- Because they have never learned to interact with others, and because they
- never acquired the discipline to live without immediate gratification (after
- all, the world DOES owe them a living), they never stopped to think that
- someone outside their own little tech circle may have access/interest to
- the same communication vehicles they use (for discussion on pirating) and
- they never realize the irrationality of "taking the easy route."
-
- Only an idiot would plunk down $s for a game (to challenge and entertain
- them) and then attempt to subvert the challenge through a cheat. Hey gang,
- here's a deal: send me $1 and I WON'T send you a game! Then you won't
- have the possibility of getting stuck or having to exercise those flabby
- neurons!
-
- Yeah ... you're really getting away with something! (Not.)
-
- But it is a victimless crime, much akin to masochism. If it makes 'em
- happy, they only hurt themselves. Except for the NOBLE mavericks who
- see pirating as a social statement against big business or for freedom
- of software. These folks are to be pitied: they want so much to "be"
- someone, but either don't have the ability or motivation to channel that
- into something ... well ... something worth even admitting.
