- Ok, Brian, here's a quick review...
-
- First of all, there are three different aspects to the game. First, there
- is the Pendulum, which really is more like a toy. The object is to influence
- the swinging of a penulum so that it passes over the power areas. You can
- influence the pendulum by using the arrow keys, and it simulates blowing on
- the pendulum. It is my least favorite part of Heaven and Earth, and I got
- tired of it REAL quick.
- Next, there is a REALLY neat card game. It's a little tough to describe, but
- I'll give it a shot. You have a deck of 48 cards. Each card has a season,
- element, and scene associated with it. There are 4 types of seasons, 4
- elements, and 4 scenes. Some of the cards have special occurences in their
- scenes, such as a lunar eclipse, snow, rain, setting sun, etc. The object
- of the game is to try to score as many points as possible by making tricks.
- The cards can be combined by seasons, elements or scenes. The specials are
- multipliers. So, for example, 4 of a kind is worth 1000 points, but if one
- of the cards has, say Setting Sun on it, it'd be worth 2000 points (x2 multi-
- plier.) The game has even more rules, but that's the basics. It's pretty
- easy to learn, and VERY fun to play. The specials show up on different
- cards each game, so no two games are alike.
- The final, and largest part, of the game is the puzzles. A more accurate
- description would be illusions. Many of these puzzles (there are 13 types) are
- spatial relation puzzle, meaning, create this object using these 3D pieces.
- Prolonged periods of playing can really give you a headache, since some
- of the 3D puzzles look like an Eisher(sp?) painting.
- You can also go on a pilgrimage, which will take you through all of the
- puzzles and even a few card games where you have to achieve a certain score.
- I've never completed a pilrgimage, but I know that they are different each
- time.
-
- Overall, I'd say the game is fun, especially the card game. My wife and I
- have been challenging each other at it for a few months now. If you're
- interested in other types of puzzle games, then you could try "Are We There
- Yet?" or "The Fool's Errand". These games include word puzzles, like scrambled
- words, crosswords, word searches, etc...
-
- Hope this has helped. Any questions, I'd be glad to answer...
