- I heard at the last Puget Sound HP User's Meeting that HP is planning on
- rewriting the entire OS for the '48; nothing much operational will
- change, but expect big improvements in the speed of the program editor
- and equation writer as well as a more advanced graphing shell (supposedly
- it will have a trace command like the casio graphing calcs). I have no
- details, but it is definite (well, as definite as this rumor) that there
- will be an upgrade option much like they did with the 95LX.
- This isn't based on pure speculation and rumor, however; HP sent out
- questionairres to all of the 48sx software vendors (Sparcom, etc...)
- asking what entry points (documented and undocumented) they used. This is
- a clear indication that they are at least thinking about going through
- with the rewrite. I don't know anything about the rev. J stuff, but I
- think this much more exciting. Keep in mind, however, that this is only a
- rumor......
