- It is unfortunate that most people don't use nearly a fraction of the
- full potential of the HP. For someone without a strong computer background
- the learning curve might be real steep. It is really a waste that some people
- use it only as a four-operation one-dollar calculator. That used to depress
- me a lot since I can't really afford an HP (I got mine as first prize on a
- competition).
-
- Other people, however, myself included, not only "use all the functions" but
- eventually outgrow the calculator's capacity. For example, I'm running around
- 3K of free memory and that includes only useful work - Laplace tables, multi-
- ple equation solver, numerical convolution and linear algebra stuff. Not a single
- game or 'hack'! And several times a week I have to purge stuff and then download
- it again, for the different classes (100 bucks for an expansion card? No way!).
-
- My whole point is, for some people, buying an HP48 is pointless. When someone
- asks me about what to buy, I may as well recommend an HP32!
