- Sorry for asking what is probably a rather elementary question, but I'd
- sure appreciate any help I could get.
-
- We have an oldish HP-UX system (9000/360, version 6.5) that used to be
- used only as a standalone device hosting some development and debugging
- activity. Now its mission in life has changed and we need to
- get it talking over the Internet.
-
- I have the ARPA services up and running and I can ping anybody in the
- world, do Telnet and FTP, etc., as long as I have the Internet address
- (i.e. the numeric form) of the host address. It can't deal with domain
- name addresses and doesn't seem to be even trying to get to a domain
- name server. I have the internet address for the DNS we use, and I've
- created a resolve.conf file in the usual way with this address in it,
- but this doesn't seem to help. Can this revision use the DNS? If so, how
- do I call its attention to the existence of the service and the location
- of the server?
-
- Thanks.
