- The "frame buffer" is accessed by the /dev/crt device file.

- I am concerned by your question. There are very few reasons to access
- /dev/crt directly. All current displays have sophisticated graphics
- controllers that are much more than simple frame buffers. The interface to
- these devices differs for each display type. The portable way to use
- these devices is via X windows or one of the graphics libraries such as
- Starbase or HP-PHIGS.

- libraries within X windows. If you describe what features you want to
