  12. Thank you for the several messages about ghostscript having the ability
  13. to convert postscript to laserjet.  This school has an older copy on a
  14. fileserver which doesn't do this.  Whether this is because the older version
  15. doesn't handle it or a driver of some type wasn't installed, I don't know:
  16. somebody else compiled it and I don't have access to the directory it was
  17. compiled in.

  19. I already knew about ghostscript's ability to do this.  I've ftp'd it and
  20. it looks like a nightmare to compile.  Somebody else in our office (who is
  21. much better at these things than I) gave up after a few days of trying
  22. to install it.  The effort didn't seem worth it compared to the
  23. relatively short walk across the building, the problems I've had with the
  24. printer with just PCL, and the demand of other projects.  I am sorry for
  25. the inconvenience.  Since there was a lj2ps, I was hoping for a quick
  26. fix: ps2lj.  I might try to get a hold of the person who originally
  27. installed ghostscript on the file server next, but any action on this is
  28. doubtful since the demand for such a program is nearly nil compared to
  29. other projects (i.e. there is also a commercial postscript previewer
  30. installed, and there are very few laserjets without postscript
  31. cartridges around here).
