- Thank you for the several messages about ghostscript having the ability
- to convert postscript to laserjet. This school has an older copy on a
- fileserver which doesn't do this. Whether this is because the older version
- doesn't handle it or a driver of some type wasn't installed, I don't know:
- somebody else compiled it and I don't have access to the directory it was
- compiled in.
-
- I already knew about ghostscript's ability to do this. I've ftp'd it and
- it looks like a nightmare to compile. Somebody else in our office (who is
- much better at these things than I) gave up after a few days of trying
- to install it. The effort didn't seem worth it compared to the
- relatively short walk across the building, the problems I've had with the
- printer with just PCL, and the demand of other projects. I am sorry for
- the inconvenience. Since there was a lj2ps, I was hoping for a quick
- fix: ps2lj. I might try to get a hold of the person who originally
- installed ghostscript on the file server next, but any action on this is
- doubtful since the demand for such a program is nearly nil compared to
- other projects (i.e. there is also a commercial postscript previewer
- installed, and there are very few laserjets without postscript
- cartridges around here).
