- 2 Crucial questions:
-
- 1. Is there a way to check if a patch is really in the kernel?
-
- We have applied any number of patches. Is there a way to be sure that
- a patch is actually part of a new kernel? Does it just boil down to
- the idea that anything in the "/system" dir will always be included
- in the new kernel?
-
- Or do you have to look at "libhp-ux.a", extract the affected object
- code, and compare it with whatever came with the patch??? Yes?
-
- 2. Is there an easy way to reset all device file permissions?
-
- I don't see "mkdev" or "insf" on our system (HPUX 8.07).
- I assume either of those are the recommended scripts to use,
- but they ain't here. I can do a file-by-file comparison to
- one of our other systems, but that seems a little tedious a
- one of the other systems.
-
- (If you're nice, I'll let you know if PHNE_1440 cures the freeze
- problem or not. ;-/)
- Thanks in advance!
