The DECMate II (2) is a computer based upon the Harris 6120 CPU. This CPU implements
a complete PDP-8 CPU on one VLSI chip. It is binary compatible with all PDP-8 soft-
ware. The DECMate II is provided with two seperate memory areas the main memory, 32K
by 12 bits and the core memory, 32K by 12 bits. The core is where the operating
system resides. It was sold mainly as a word processing station but can run the OS8
operating system available through DECUS. Internally it holds 2 or 4 5 1/4" floppy
drives or 2 floppies and a hard drive with proper controller card. It also can support
an APU, auxillary processor unit (Z-80 and CPM based), and a graphics card (color) that
supports REGIS graphics. Standard video is VT102 monochrome. All in all this was a good machine but came out a little too late. If more info is desired let me know
