- It's a total no brainer, and I'd guess it probably is a reflection
- of some internal struggle within Digital that they're asking. Someone,
- somewhere, probably wanted to cut costs/resources by not bothering with
- the most recent version of motif, so the usual waffling and struggle will
- occur.

- DEC has to get out of its habit of making its dirty laundry visible
- to its customers. It doesn't make the customer base feel "empowered" when
- they see clear signs that the vendor doesn't know what to do and is trying
- to get customer input as ammunition to resolve internal struggles.

- For example - whatever happened to Gail Grant's "poll" about making
- patches available on the internet? Gail asked for the net's opinion (and it
- was overwhelming) but didn't promise anything'd come of it. That sounds
- like a "give me ammunition" request if I ever heard one. It's vaguely
- pathetic to see a vendor so out of touch with their target market that
- they even need to ask these kinds of things.
