- I have a widely dispersed LAN with my servers running AT&T UNIX SYSV REL 4.0.
- I want the ability to locate my HP IIId printers anywhere on the LAN and
- have the ability to print directly to it. In the past I used parallel port
- extenders - they are very flaky and unreliable to maintain. I was excited
- when I saw a product announcement from HP for a card called LAN DIRECT. This
- card is supposed to fit into the HP IIId optional slot and plug directly into
- the LAN. Unfortunately, this product did not work with UNIX.
-
- Does any "netter" know of any cards that fit into HP IIIds and work with UNIX
- maybe via TCP/IP or something like that ? I researched this to death and
- drew a blank when it came to UNIX SYSV R4.0, ethernet, and HP IIIds.
- Thanks in advance for your help.
- Ram Reddy.
