  13. You've just discovered the joys of dealing with non-standard
  14. implementations of "standards".

  16. The "AVME" slot on the TT is only a partial implementation of
  17. the VME standard, similar to the way the "ACSI" port was a
  18. crippled SCSI implementation.

  20. The Atari implementation of the AVME port does *not* have any
  21. provisions for bus-mastering, which it sounds like the Ethernet
  22. card assumes is available.

  24. The only useful cards for the TT are passive devices like
  25. graphics cards, which do not need to take control of the bus.

  27. This leaves out a very large percentage of the "hundreds and
  28. hundreds of VME cards" we often hear about...
