To all who give a crap,
Jeeez, what a bunch of killjoys!! What makes you think that just because the
Falcon does not fit the exact specs that you _need_ to run "non-existent"
software, that its a piece of shit?? (pardon the language - it's been a long
day, and I'm pissed...) Lets put this in perspective...
1) The Falcon is not (contrary to most views) a useless computer. Why? Keep
reading.... For one thing, the sampling equipment on the thing is incredible
for the price. I guess most of you are just either not into music or are just
plain ignoring this facet in the Falcon's capabilities. Music is also damn
hard to make (with all the reference to all the programming) and I mean good
music (a SUBJECTIVE quality - as is the quality of games). Back to the sampling
thing...I know of at least three samplers in the CDN $2000-$3000 range that
offer the SAME amount of quality and hook-ups (in/outs) but DON'T have the
ability to do editing and sound effects (limited in most cases). The Falcon however is an open-ended sampler !ight here, having a Falcon is a good deal already.
2) Okay, how about the graphics? Not all too great..But look at the PC market..
Sure there are lots of incredible graphic cards, but who actually gets them?
And for what reason? (I've asked! And the usual answer boils down to - showing
off...) Hey, showing off is great, but I'm not shelling out for a damn
show case machine!! Hey, I don't see THAT much complaining about VGA... Now,
I'm not offering excuses here...to be sure I'm going to more or less trade in
my F030 for a 24 bit color F040 when it comes out.. All I'm saying is that
this seems to be a case of never getting enough to me.... I can just see it,
as soon as the F040 comes out, people are gonna bitch about it! Hey, you've
all been screaming at Atari for a better computer and now it comes out, you're
all yelling and screaming that its too late...So fucking what? Did you need it
to save your kid or something?? If it pisses you off so much that Atari is
disorganized, why not we all send a group letter to 'em. Why the hell do you
have to slander a good computer?
3) Sound, graphics..what else is there? Software is what. Hey, I'm not sure
if everyone knows this, but companies are producing for the Falcon! (NEW
companies too, for christ sake!) So if you please just keep your pants on,
the damn software will come out when the computer hits the mass market!
And so what if it doesn't, you say? Well, shit, I still have a damn good
sampler!!!! Also whats all this about the Atari being dead in the music scene?
Hey, if you didn't already know, the States isn't the only fucking country on
Earth, eh? Hey I feel for you if you can't get what you want, but tough shit,
thats life...you want it, you gotta wait. Me? Emagic's gotta direct retailer
around the corner, so don't give me shit about there being no sequencers.
As for IBM sequencer's, what the crap did you think I had before I got my ST?
I only got my 1040ST in Dec 1991, and Jesus, when I ran Cubase I almost
fainted...Compared to the IBM sequencer, (Expletives deleted)..Suffice to say
it was much better. Even the sequencers now days are nothing compared... Only
the Mac is as good, but hey, most struggling musicians are not rolling in cash!
Boy that felt good...
Anyway more later.
BTW, I'm sick of supporting the other side of the argument. I know you guys
will do it for me....
