- I have thought for a while that a place to announce new software releases
- would be very useful. Many times I've not been aware of the latest
- versions of software. I had to ask Michael Bernards himself what the
- latest English version of Rufus was, and I had to get it from Bob Brodie
- via the F-Net! The same is true with commercial software. For example, I
- always try to get the latest version of Warp9 when it comes out. It was
- over 2 months before I knew that the ExtendoSave version had been
- released! So what might be a good idea is to open the newsgroups to
- discussion of the latest software, of all varieties. When anyone finds a
- newly released title, they can post about it, tell where they can FTP it
- from, and, if people want them to, they could even uuencode it and post
- it, or post its source code. Something like this wouldn't cut back on the
- purpose the groups currently serve, while adding something that could
- benefit a lot of users.
-
- Just my thoughts...
