  19. does it Need!?

  21. The ST's GEM environment is on ROM chips, so is faster, requires under
  22. 200k of RAM (not sure about newer versions).  And doesn't NEED a Hard
  23. Drive to run!!

  25. The Basic ST, which will run Quite happily on a single-tasking, WIMPS
  26. environment, only has 512k of RAM, a 720k Floppy, and NO Hard-Drive.
  27. It works, and you still have around 350k of RAM free!!

  29. OS/2 and windows are HUGE, and VERY expensive, the ST's operating system
  30. comes built in - you don't have to pay for it!  (Okay, the price of
  31. the chips is included of course but you get the idea 8-)

  34. MS-Doze is the standard on IBM clones, and it is VERY under-productive!
