  14. OK, I broke down and bought the new HP550C color/black ink-jet printer.
  15. This is an excellent printer for the price.  So far, I have been trying
  16. print utilities, searching for the one that I won't be able to live 
  17. without.  The most impressive seems to be Greg Wageman's PRINTALL utility,
  18. but that was only written with drivers for the HP500/HP500C.  What I'm
  19. trying to get at is the difference in the abilities of the 500C and the
  20. 550C.  The 550C can print from the black ink cartridge and the color ink
  21. cartridge at the same time.  (The 500C could only use one cartridge at a
  22. time).  Thus, the 550C color printouts need not have the pseudo-black
  23. patches where real black ought to be.  Also, better dark shades could be
  24. made by mixing a real black and Red/Blue/Yellow, as needed.  In the clone
  25. world, drivers are already available to do this.  Is someone out there
  26. knowledgable enough to come up with such a driver for atari users?  Short
  27. of that, does anyone know Greg Wageman that might see if he could be
  28. persuaded to indulge in such a project?  I think I saw where he had done
  29. something for Oki printers, so he may not have done the 500C stuff just
  30. because it was what he personally was using.  Who knows...   Since I am
  31. probably not the only person with an atari and a 550C, it would be nice
  32. to see postings here about any 550C specific atari drivers that come into
  33. existence (or already exist).  Thanks.
