  14. Almost every major IBM BBS system supprots some form of offline reading. 
  15. There are two major types, MegaPackets (used with the MegaMail offline
  16. reader) and QWK packets.  QWK's seem to have become the defacto standard
  17. for the off line reader in the IBM world.  I have not loged on to a major
  18. or for that matter, many minor systems that didn't have Qwk's available.
  19.  
  20. To run either PabQwk or QwkSilver, you need 128k of memory or better, neither
  21. will run on stock 800xl systems.  At this time, QwkSilver will not run under
  22. any form of SpartaDos as there is a VBI conflict in it's on screen timer.  I
  23. have spoken to Bobby Clark about this and it looks like he may be planing to 
  24. the Time$ function in TurboBasic for the next release.

  26. I've use both programs to read packets for FidoNet, WWIVnet, Fnet (through 
  27. ZnetOnline) and Rime.  I've used packets from all major Qwk tossers, 
  28. SFQwk (SpitFire), JetMail (SpitFire), Qmal4 (PcBoard), Maxis (ST), and 
  29. Synchronet.  All arc'd packets unarced with Bob Puff's SuperUnarc have
  30. worked just fine.

  33. programs, let me know.  I talk to both authors from time to time,
  34. so can pass on any ideas, problems, and addition.
