  11. Does anybody know if the ensoniq chip is socket, and for that matter, where
  12. it is located on a ROM 01 GS?  (I think it's located in the bottom right
  13. corner next the the sound expansion connector, but the chip that is there
  14. doesn't say anything useful on it).  The sound on my GS croaked one day-- it
  15. beeps and the sound still works when I use //e/c software, but when I play
  16. GS games, I just get silence-- I know something is damaged in the machine
  17. because one day I turned it on and it made an awful noise, it smelled
  18. like something had burned, and the sound hasn't worked properly since.

  20. I also need to know where I can find a replacement chip.  My local (stupid)
  21. Apple dealer told me that I needed to replace the entire motherboard to fix
  22. this...
