  16. How old is your //c? I know quite a few people with //cs which are about 1984-5
  17. vintage whose motherboards have had to be replaced, all within the last 12-18
  18. months. It had something to do with an auxillary RAM chip on the motherboard
  19. breaking down, as I remember. Whatever it was, it was the same fault in every 
  20. case.

  25. I am not suggesting that this is necessarily the case with your machine, but it
  26. might be worth getting it checked out. Maybe it's just a disk drive speed 
  27. adjustment that's needed.

  35. The best collection of diagnostic and repair software I know of is in Glen
  36. Bredon's ProSel package. You might also want to check out RepairWorks from 
  37. Quality Computers. I have had brilliant results with this program and have 
  38. recovered irreplaceable data from damaged disks a number of times. It only works
  39. with AppleWorks WP and DB files, though.
