- Ack! The only reason I'm able to run ProTERM right now is because I set
- my RAM disk to leave only about 200K of free RAM.
-
- I have a GS-RAM Plus card with 4 Mb on it. When I run the GS-RAM test
- program, I'm told that two chips are bad (the fifth chip from the right in
- the first and third banks -- in other words, they are in the same column
- on the board, with a good one in between).
-
- I swapped all kinds of chips all over the place, and no matter what chips
- are in these particular locations, they are reported as bad. So the
- problem isn't that I have bad chips, it's that for some reason the board
- doesn't recognize the validity of the chips in those two sockets.
-
- What can I do? I have important work to get done, and can't do it without
- this memory. Any suggestions on what might be wrong?
-
- I went through reseating chips that were poorly aligned, I pushed every
- socketed chip in my system into its socket, made sure all cables and
- boards are seated tightly. I ran the TWGS self-test repeatedly with no
- errors. So the problem is the RAM card itself.
-
- The annoying thing is that it was fine when I shut the machine off last
- night. Today, it appears that there is at least one memory location (in
- bank 2) which has a bit that goes clear after only a few moments (I
- actually set the value of this byte, then read it, and bit 6 is clear).
-
- Help!
