- In `node_data/etc/environ, you'll find SYSTYPE and ENVIRONMENT defined. This
- is the resolution-path of the link /etc/environ. In it, you should find the
- following comments --
- # This file (/etc/environ) is used to specify the default environment for a
- # node, as well as the default systype. It is a link to `node_data/etc/environ.
- #
- # A version of this file may be placed in a user's ~/.environ
- # and used to define the preferred environment and systype for that user
- #
- # ENVIRONMENT controls elements of the environment, except naming, and includes:
- # setting of default key_defs
- # setting of user's default shell when nothing is in the registry
- # setting of default PATH
- # Valid settings are: aegis, bsd, sysv
- #
- # SYSTYPE controls name resolution. A better name would be desirable
- # but compatibility requires that we use SYSTYPE.
- # Valid settings are: bsd4.3, sys5.3
- #
-
- Note that `node_data is /sys/node_data on disked machines, and is
- //partner/sys/node_data.NODEID on diskless nodes (booted off //partner).
