- I still don't see why, because of a practice that would be considered
- intolerable in any industry other than the computer industry, people who
- hardware code for speed or simply for fun should be punished. If I went
- to a parts store, picked up a starter for my car, and found it didn't fit
- my vehicle, I would be quite angry, certainly, but if I took it back,
- they would say, "Ooops., sorry, here's the right one!", or else refund my
- money. I see no reason not to demand the same from the software
- industry. The logic of withholding the hardware manual does not wash.
- The appropriate thing to do is demand responsibility from software
- manufacturers.
