- There is a review of Comeau C++ with Templates in the most recent edition
- of "AC's Tech" volume 3 number 1. The summary was;
- Technical quality and reliability: excellent
- Price: good
- Support: excellent
- Installation: excellent
- Documentation: poor
- Completeness: excellent
- Integration with AmigaDOS: excellent
- Integration with C Compilers: excellent
-
- A couple of notes; you will need a C compiler. And, as far as I
- know,) no Amiga specific C++ libraries/classes come with Comeau C++.
- In another thread people were asking why C++ is not used more in the
- Amiga and Sun world, my feeling is that one of the major problems
- is the lack of machine and OS specific libraries. It takes a lot
- of OO experience to design and build good quality classes. Without
- these classes developing true OO programs on your favourite computer
- can be a lot more time consuming. Any body out there working on Amiga
- specific classes? OO and C++ should, IMHO, take off once standard
- libraries and classes become available then you can just glue your
- applications together.
