- OK, here's the story. After much waiting I got my derringer 030 from CSA and
- tried to pop it in my 2000. Unfortuantely, there was a slight conflict with
- my megachip 2000 board which occupies the same bit of space. I insulated the
- two boards so they wouldn't touch and thought I had the deringer seated on
- an angle. Hit the power....and nothing. Black screen, hard drives turned
- on and clicked enough to say they were being checked but no bootup. A few
- phone calls and CSA told me to space the derringer on two sockets and this
- would allow it to clear my megachip and my power supply. It took forever
- to order the sockets and they're on the way.
-
- So now we got act two: a friend comes over with some new games, so I pop the
- 68000 off the derringer and back into its socket. Hit the power.... and
- nothing. Black screen, hard drives turned on... no boot up. Now I don't
- want to start popping the 68000 in and out a million times to test things
- because the pins are already starting to bend, but I have a very sinking
- sensation that something is fried. My HD controller seems fine, and it
- seems like more than video since there is no boot up. If it's just my
- 68000, that's fine, I've got another coming with my two sockets to meet the
- minimum order, but I don't think I'm that lucky. So if anyone understands
- these symptoms a letter or reply would be much appreciated so I can
- budget my life around the repairs.
