- One policy of GVP's that really burns me is their refusal to
- assist their customers in using their DSS-8 product. The DSS-8 is a
- nice stereo sound sampler, bundled with GVP's software that accesses it.
- I bought the board because I wanted to experiment with sound sampling,
- and I am a programmer. I presumed that I would open up the package,
- find a few tidbits on accessing the device from my programs, and be up
- and running. However, after numerous correspondence with GVP, it is
- painfully obvious that they consider this information proprietary and
- that the only way to get it is to become a "DSS-8 Developer". I
- attempted to stay on their tech support line to find out what all is
- involved ($) in becoming a Developer, but once again got disgusted after
- being 15 minutes on long-distance-hold.
- I must say that I was not satisfied with the support I got for
- my G-Force '040 board for the A3000 either. But that is not the issue
- here... the "scr*w-the-customer" attitude regarding the DSS-8 is really
- what burns me.
