  12. Here's a question for GVP PhonePak owners.

  14. Have you been able to print faxes?  At all?

  16. My dad has one of these in his 2000/030.  Everything works OK except
  17. that printing faxes fails 100% of the time, often in a manner which
  18. indicates it is writing over random parts of memory.

  20. His printer configuration is correct, including the preferences set up.
  21. He can print graphics or text from any other program including
  22. DeluxePaint IV and Final Copy II.  He can even import a FAX from
  23. PhonePak into Final Copy and print it out just fine.  But printing from
  24. the PhonePak program itself just won't work.  This is with the HP
  25. LaserJet III driver (which is obviously working great since it works
  26. from other programs).  The settings we use are identical for PhonePak
  27. and FinalCopy/Dpaint.  Also, we've tried darned near every possible
  28. permutation of options in the graphics print preferences, and none of
  29. them work in PhonePak (yet they all work everywhere else).

  31. We've eliminated the possibility of conflicts with other programs by
  32. shutting everything else down.  We just boot, run no other software from
  33. startup-sequence or anywhere else, and then run PhonePak.  Same results.
  34. We've also tried other printer drivers with other printers, and the same
  35. thing happens - we can print graphics from other programs, but not
  36. PhonePak.  It is not a lack of memory - he has about 4 Mb free during
  37. the time PhonePak is "printing".

  39. GVP Tech Support had nothing to say about the problem.  They claim it
  40. works, yet it obviously doesn't since it often scrambles screen memory
  41. when you print, and other times writes over other sections of RAM.
  42. That's a fairly reliable indictment of their program, I'd think :-)

  44. Its a bit of a problem, since printing faxes is important.  Always
  45. having to import them to DPaint or Final Copy to print is not an
  46. acceptable solution.  The card came with v1.0 of the software, and GVP
  47. sent him v1.1 to see if it would fix the problem.  No dice - same
  48. problem exactly.

  50. Anybody else seen this?  Any way to fix it?  We'd hate to have to return
  51. the card, but if 'ya can't print faxes with a fax card, that's a big
  52. problem.
