  11. After a long wait for my A4000 to arrive, and being much relieved during this
  12. period to see the many posts here and there attesting to the fact that DCTVs
  13. work fine on A4000s, now that it's finally here my PAL DCTV won't work with
  14. it!  Has anyone out there got a PAL DCTV to work properly with an A4000!?

  16. Here are the symptoms:

  18. The DCTV will pass a standard PAL or NTSC screen through and spit out a
  19. standard composite image fine; in this case, as you would expect, the DCTV
  20. remains inert, and merely passes the signal through and converts it to
  21. composite.

  23. Also understandably, if you try and display in an AGA screen mode (e.g. DBLPAL
  24. or DBLNTSC) it sends the DCTV's composite display bezerk!
  25.  
  26. HOWEVER, when you display a DCTV image and line it up to the point where
  27. DCTV normally displays it in all its glory, the composite display goes black!
  28. Run DCTVPaint and the same thing happens as soon as any DCTV encoded image
  29. appears - e.g. the gadget panel in DCTV Paint!!??

  31. I spoke with another PAL DCTV owner here in Australia yesterday who had also
  32. just received his A4000 and he found exactly the same problem with his DCTV!

  34. DO ANY PAL DCTVs WORK WITH A4000s!!??  8-(

  36. I also have another more minor problem with my dctv.  It seems that the pass-
  37. through connector on it has never worked correctly.  Previously I was using it
  38. on my A3000 along with a 1950 multisync and so never had cause to use the pass
  39. -through.  Now, due to the single video port on the A4000, I have to plug my
  40. 1950 into the dctv's pass-through.  The pass-through seems to somehow alter
  41. the video signal with the net result being that the 1950 shows a much darker
  42. display with noticable thin vertical banding and a purple stain down the right
  43. hand side of the screen.  1081 and 1084 monitors plugged into the pass-through
  44. (with the A4000 displaying a standard HiRes Pal screen that they would normally
  45. display without problem) seem to refuse to sync properly, with the screen
  46. rolling and skewed.

  48. This more minor problem seems to be a problem with my particular unit only.
  49. As it is now out of warranty I wonder if anyone has had a similar problem
  50. and if there is any easy way to fix it??

  52. Can anyone shed any light (preferably of the pseudo-24bit composite type)
  53. on either of these problems???
